Documents for Bahrain, one by one

Indian passport holders apply for Bahrain's visit eVisa online on the official eVisa platform, evisa.gov.bh, before travel. You must be outside Bahrain when you apply. The NPRA document list for the two-week single-entry eVisa is short: passport copy, hotel booking or address in Bahrain, return ticket, and a recent bank statement. The same list applies to the 3-month and 1-year multiple-entry eVisas.

Passport (bio page copy)

  • Ordinary Indian passport valid for more than 6 months. Bahrain's Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs (NPRA) lists this for every visit eVisa.
  • Upload a clear colour copy of the photo page. Both machine-readable lines at the bottom must be readable.
  • Use the passport you will travel on. If you renew your passport after the visa is issued, the visa stays linked to the old number, so apply again.
  • Check that your name is spelt the same way on your ticket and hotel booking.

Hotel booking or address in Bahrain

  • NPRA asks for a clear copy of a hotel reservation, or the address where you will stay in Bahrain.
  • If you are staying with family or friends, give their full address in Bahrain.
  • The dates should match your flights and fit inside the 2-week stay.

Return air ticket

  • Proof of a return air ticket is on the NPRA document list.
  • Keep the return date within your permitted stay. The single-entry eVisa is for two weeks.
  • A confirmed booking or e-ticket is better than an unpaid hold.

Bank statement (last 3 months)

  • NPRA asks for a bank statement for the past 3 months showing a regular income of at least US$1,000.
  • Bahrain's national portal describes the same rule as a regular monthly income of BD 300 to 500, or funds of BD 150 for each day of the visit, with the statement in English.
  • Download the statement from your bank with the bank's name, your name and account number on it. Indian bank statements in English are fine.
  • Avoid large unexplained deposits just before you apply.

Extra papers to keep ready

  • Salaried: a leave letter or NOC from your employer and recent salary slips help explain your income.
  • Self-employed: business registration or GST certificate and your latest income tax return.
  • Students and homemakers: the sponsoring parent's or spouse's bank statement and a short sponsorship letter.
  • Krosz checks these before anything is filed and tells you if something is missing.

Common mistakes for Bahrain

These come up again and again with Indian travellers. Each one has a simple fix.

  • Passport valid for exactly 6 months or less. NPRA asks for more than 6 months of validity. Renew through Passport Seva first if you are close.
  • Bank statement that does not show regular income. Use your salary or main business account for the last 3 months. A savings account with one large deposit raises questions.
  • Bank statement in a regional language. Bahrain's national portal asks for the statement in English. Most Indian banks can give an English statement online.
  • Booking a 3-week trip on the two-week eVisa. Choose a longer visa before you fly, or plan to extend. NPRA charges BD 25 for each 14-day extension, and extensions are handled at a service centre.
  • Applying too early. The eVisa must be used within three months of issue. Apply once your dates are firm.
  • Hotel dates that do not match flights. Make sure check-in and check-out match your arrival and return. Officers compare the two.
  • Paying on an unofficial website. Bahrain's official eVisa platform is evisa.gov.bh. Ignore sites that look official but use other addresses.
